The topic is books – you can tell us about your favourite, bring books to swap or lend, anything you like as long as it’s about books!! All ladies welcome and do bring a friend. WoW Christmas Meal

When: 15 Dec 2010. Where: Birchwood Farm, Glasshoughton (new pub near Asda), Cost: £variable-Choose from a festive set meal at £16 or from the menu. If you would like to come please let either Rose or Anne know as soon as possible. To reserve places we need a deposit of £8 per person by Sunday 24 October 2010. Transport will be available for everyone, more details nearer the time.

Right to Believe Campaign

Right to Believe Campaign: This year the Organisation for the Islamic Conference (OIC), linking 57 countries with majority or significant Muslim populations, will once again introduce the Defamation of Religious Resolution in the United Nations. It allows governments the power to determine which religious views can and can’t be expressed in their country, and it gives the right to punish those who express ‘unacceptable’ religious views at they see fit. In effect it makes persecution legal. Please sign the petition on the welcome desk, and pray that the Resolution will be defeated. Thank you Stephanie.

We’re trying a new format for the ‘Women on Wednesday’ meetings, in that each event will be hosted by someone different, if you are willing to host a WoW evening, please put your name against your preferred date on the list displayed on the notice board. If there is anything in particular you would like to cover in a topic then please add that as well.

After-School Club

We are thinking of starting up a new After-School Club based in the Parish Rooms. It will probably be on a Thursday from 4.00 pm until 5.00 pm and will be aimed at children in School Years 5 and 6 (ages 9 to 11 years). No experience necessary, but if you think you’ve got a particular skill and would like to get involved please see Diane Brennan.

Parish Weekend Update

8th – 10th October, booking forms are very slow at coming in. It is now only four weeks so let’s have your completed forms now which are available on the welcome desk. Please put your booking and deposit in the box provided, book now to avoid disappointment. Paul Alexander and his wife Carol, principal of Mattersey Bible college and renowned conference speaker will lead our studies. The college is also intending to staff our kids groups. Only a month to go!

Open Mic Night

Open Mic Night Aftershock are hosting an open mic night in Church on Tuesday 20th July from 7.00 – 10.00 pm. Volunteers are needed to help decorate the church with posters etc and also needed on the night to make everything run smoothly. Everyone is invited, food and drink will be provided.
