We would like to say a big THANK YOU to those who came and helped clear the Parish Rooms last Sunday. Your help was really appreciated! The building work on the Parish Rooms re-ordering will begin Monday 27th June, we apologise for any inconvenience this will cause in the short term, but we will soon have an updated building which we can use to it’s full potential! We delighted to announce that Gav Budby has been appointed our alternative education Centre Manager (Head teacher) after a rigorous interview process. This, at the moment, is a half time post. The other half he will be continuing his youth work and school mentoring. The centre will be based in the parish rooms Mon, Tues, Thur, Fri, afternoons from October this year. [...]

Our churchwardens are Phil Atkinson and John Dracup, Deanery reps are Sally Dinsdale, Sandy Vanstan and Roger Wills, PCC reps are James Parkinson, Jenny Farrall-Bird and Elaine Wells. The meeting focused on the future and in particular the Well involvement with The lighthouse Group, a Christian organisation to bring quality alternative education for those on the brink of exclusion and beyond in High Schools. We now have a partnership with them to provide a part-time service to schools in the Wakefield area. This will build on the already good work that Gav and Jenny are doing with Freeston in mentoring students. We will be advertising for staffing for the centre in the near future. The centre will be based in the Parish Rooms on Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday afternoons each week during term time. This will mean some reorganising of the Parish Rooms to meet Ofsted requirements for the unit that we are hopeful of getting funding from elsewhere. [...]

After next Sunday 3rd April (Mothering Sunday) service there will be a table top sale of cereal. These have kindly been donated by Kellogg’s and the Co-op. All the money raised will go towards the cost of subsidising the Parish Weekend in October. Please come and stock up your cupboards with bargains.

Annual Self Declaration Forms are on the welcome desk, would everyone who holds a CRB please complete this form again and hand it in to the church office. Everyone who participates in any church activity and does not yet have a CRB please collect a form from the office.

I would like to thank everyone for their thoughts, prayers, visits and encouragement during my recent hospitalisation and ongoing recovery. Things are progressing well and I look forward to being back among you all soon Derek.

The revision of the church electoral roll will begin on Sunday 6th March and end on Sunday 20th March.
