Asda Run

During July the mini bus will be running to Asda every Tuesday morning at 10.am and will be at Asda for approximately one hour. If you know anyone who could benefit from this service please ring the church office on 01924 220868.

Please look at the notice board for information regarding the link we have with Mara, below is a short extract from the letter we received (full letter on notice board) thanking us for the bibles we funded last year and how they are being used in the study groups.

First of all, I, Revd Canon Jacob Robert on the behalf of the Christian education department and on the behalf of My Diocese of Mara, I would like to send our gratefulness to you, our friend of the church of All Saints Normanton for your generous Bible contribution, that has enabled us now to read and study the Bible. The Well Project Funding

Lighthouse Group Centre Manager

We delighted to announce that Gav Budby has been appointed our alternative education Centre Manager (Head teacher) after a rigorous interview process. This, at the moment, is a half time post. The other half he will be continuing his youth work and school mentoring. The centre will be based in the parish rooms Mon, Tues, Thur, Fri, afternoons from October this year.

Asda Bus Service

The bus service will run every Thurs in June. It goes from Ripley Court and Wynn Dale to Asda at Glasshoughton and returns an hour or so later.

We also make space available to church family members who would otherwise struggle to get to the shops.

Next month as a trial we will stop by “The Well”.

Bishop’s Lent Appeal 2011

During Lent we will be making a separate collection for the Bishop’s Lent Appeal the money will go to: Bunda Bible College, Mara – This is now the main theological training centre for the whole area, but lacks a chapel. It is hoped to raise enough to build a much needed chapel.
The Next Step Trust – A day centre for 19+ years with severe and complex needs.

Right to Believe

Thank you for signing the Right to Believe petition. Open doors have received over 144,000 signatures. The petition will be presented at the United Nations in New York on 6th December to Mr Simonovic, the Assistant Secretary-General for Human Rights. Please pray that the strong show of support for the petition will influence the decision makers within the UN, showing the level of concern regarding the Defamation of Religions Resolutions from thousands around the world. If anyone would like more information please let me know – Stephanie.

After-School Club

We are thinking of starting up a new After-School Club based in the Parish Rooms. It will probably be on a Thursday from 4.00 pm until 5.00 pm and will be aimed at children in School Years 5 and 6 (ages 9 to 11 years). No experience necessary, but if you think you’ve got a particular skill and would like to get involved please see Diane Brennan.

Run With The Rhinos

Surgery Open Days

The building will be open to the community for viewing and discussion on its use on December 7th, 8th, 9th, 14th, 15th and 16th from 10.00 am until 3.00 pm, and again on the evening of the 8th and 15th from 7.00 pm until 8.00 pm.

If you are able to provide mince pies, serve them in the centre, or drive the mini-bus can you indicate so on the forms on the church desk?
