Support Christians in Eritrea
Please sign the petition on the welcome desk for our Christian brothers and sisters in Eritrea. The state is arresting, torturing and detaining them simply for their beliefs. There is now an unprecedented number of over 1,700 men, women, youths and elderly imprisoned, many in shipping containers with no facilities. There is also an example letter to send to the authorities in Eritrea. See Ginny for more details.

Prayer Ministry
We will be running a series of Sermons on prayer on Sunday evenings. If you want teaching on prayer, and who doesn’t, come along at 6.30 pm each Sunday.

Crèche
It is anticipated that we will be starting the crèche again at the beginning of next month. Initially this will just be for the first Sunday of the month when the toys will be left out for use in the side chapel for mum’s to take their children in there to play at anytime during the service.

Yorkshire Philharmonic Choir Spring Concert
Wakefield Cathedral—Saturday 1st April, 7.30 pm. This is Mozart’s 250th anniversary year and the first half of this evening is devoted to 3 of his famous choral works, the delightful ‘Ave Verum Corpus’, ‘Exultate Jubilate’, featuring the famous soprano solo ‘Alleluia’ and ‘Vespers’ featuring ‘Laudate Dominum’ so much loved of soloists these days. The graceful yet often jocular style of Mozart shines through these short pieces. The second half features 2 contrasting works. Vaughn-William’s ‘An Oxford Elergy’ is a rarely performed lyrical work for narrator, chorus and orchestra expressing, through the setting of 2 English poems, the composer’s love of that ‘city of dreaming spires’. Finally Handel’s ‘Dixit Dominus’ (from Psalm 109) is a light, fast, baroque setting which will test the virtuosity of choir and soloists to the limit, but it is fun! Hope you can make it. Talk to Derek or Dave about getting tickets or note the numbers on the posters and handouts in church, or you can even get in on the door but better to have your ticket beforehand!

Prayer Request
Please pray for Nellie Loxton, Karen Shepherd and Evelyn who are all in hospital at the moment.

    Almighty god,

    you show to those who are in error the light of your truth, that they may return to the way of righteousness:

    grant to all those who are admitted into the fellowship of Christ's religion, that they may reject those things that are contrary to their profession,and follow all such things as are agreeable to the same;

    through our Lord Jesus Christ, who is alive and reigns with you, in the unity of the Holy Spirit, one God, now and for ever.

    Amen.
