Almighty God,
you show to those who are in error the light of your truth,
that they may return to the way of righteousness:
grant to all those who are admitted
into the fellowship of Christ’s religion,
that they may reject those things
that are contrary to their profession,
and follow all such things as are agreeable to the same;
through our Lord Jesus Christ,
who is alive and reigns with you,
in the unity of the Holy Spirit,
one God, now and for ever.
Amen.

Yorkshire Philharmonic Choir Spring Concert YPC’s Spring
concert falls in the middle of this season of Lent and in keeping with they present ‘The Crucifixion’ by John Stainer. This remains amongst the most popular of all English choral works and vividly portrays the events of the Passion of Christ, through solos,
masterful choruses, ranging from the graphic mob shouts of ‘crucify him’ to the work’s centrepiece, the much loved ‘God so loved the world’ and hymns such as ‘For the love of Jesus’. It is the choir’s hope that people will not only enjoy the presentation but it will add considerably to the special Lenten devotions which so many continue to observe as we prepare for the celebrations to follow at Easter. To complement ‘The Crucifixion’ the choir
presents ‘Requiem’ by Maurice Duruflé. Completed in 1947 it has a unique harmonic beauty and flowing gentleness. The concert is in Wakefield Cathedral, 7.30 pm on Saturday 24th March. Tickets are available as per the posters in church or for the moment through Derek and Dave. Admission at the door is also usually possible.
