Carols by Candlelight December 16th at 6.30 pm, the next of our evening events. This is particularly for you to bring friends and work colleagues etc. The choir from the Common School will be singing so we are expecting big crowds! We want to give everyone a mince pie at the end so please get baking. MINCE PIES MINCE PIES MINCE PIES Please start making them now to give away on the evening of the carol service.

Christmas Services We will have our carols by candlelight on 16th December, with 3.00 and 5.00 pm Christingles on Christmas Eve and midnight communion, then on Christmas Day 8.00am traditional communion, with a 10.30 am family communion.

Church Flowers At the moment Pat is unable to do the church flowers so we need to put together a team of people who can decorate the church with flowers on Saturday 15th December ready for the carol service on the following evening. Two people have come forward but we need more help than this. If you feel that you can be part of this then please have a word with Don, Barbara or Inga.

Carol Singing As in previous years we plan to sing carols (in four parts and unaccompanied) around areas of the town on the night of Friday December 14th. This has always proven to be a very enjoyable time for all concerned and many have come out of their homes to tell us how much they have appreciated the music. It’s a real opportunity to spread the love of God. If you sang last year and would like to join us again...fantastic! If you didn’t sing last year but would like to this year...fantastic! Music provided ...just bring your voice and a joyful heart.

Christingle Security We need four people at each Christingle service to be on duty with fire extinguishers. Gerry our Health and Safety officer will be giving training on extinguisher use between the two services on Sunday 23rd December. If you are interested please see Inga.

Making Christingles On Saturday December 22nd from 10.30 am a social event for anybody just to drop in and give a hand even if its only for half an hour. There will be Mulled Wine and mince pies to keep us going and get us in the mood (should we still need it!)

Christingle Candles are on the welcome desk for you to take home to fill and bring back with you to one of the Christingle services. If you would like to take one for anyone else in your family then please do so.

Bookstall Ann Bucktrout is retiring after many years running the bookstall in church; if we are to continue to have a bookstall we need a new volunteer to run it, beginning in the New Year. If you are interested see Ann or Inga.

Missing Trays We have two black and white trays missing from the church kitchen, if you have borrowed them could you please return them as soon as possible.

‘On Christmas Night’ is the Yorkshire Philharmonic Choir’s Carol Concert this year in Wakefield Cathedral on Saturday 22nd December at 7.30 pm. Tickets are always at a premium for this popular event. Choir members were told on Tuesday that there were no tickets available for them to sell on to friends, but I understand there are still some available at the Cathedral Bookshop or the Tourist Information Centre in Wakefield—so, can I encourage you to contact them if you would like to be there (there will be no chance of getting in on the door!) Derek.

Food Cupboard Please remember the food cupboard when you are out shopping, we are now in the process of making up Christmas parcels for the needy in Normanton.

Bookstall There are Advent calendars and Christmas cards for sale on the bookstall; there are also a number of second hand books for everyone to look and take home.

PCC The minutes from the last meeting are in the pigeon holes.

Précis of PCC Minutes These are on the welcome desk for everyone to read and take home and also on the website.
