All this took place to fullfill what the LORD had said through the prophet" The
virgin will be with child and will give birth to a son, and they will call
him Immanuel"- which means "God with us"
you sent John the Baptist to prepare the way of your Son:
give us courage to speak the truth,
to hunger for justice,
and to suffer for the cause of right,
with Jesus Christ our Lord.

Dates and info will be revealed in the new year.
Hope 08 From the beginning of January we want to find out what the people of Normanton think, so we hope you will help by getting your friends and neighbours to fill in the questionnaire we will be publishing early in January. This will be the first of five events taking place under the national banner of Hope 08.
Rota The service rotas for January are in the pigeon holes.
Christingle Security We need four people at each Christingle service to be on duty with fire
extinguishers. Gerry our Health and Safety officer will be giving training on extinguisher use
between the two services on Sunday 23rd December. If you are interested please see Inga.
Making Christingles On Saturday December 22nd from 10.30 am a social event for anybody just to drop in and give a hand even if its only for half an hour. There will be Mulled Wine and mince pies to keep us going and get us in the mood (should we still need it!)
Christingle Candles are on the welcome desk for you to take home to fill and bring back with you to one of the Christingle services. If you would like to take one for anyone else in your family then please do so.
Bookstall Ann Bucktrout is retiring after many years running the bookstall in church; if we are to continue to have a bookstall we need a new volunteer to run it, beginning in the New Year. If you are interested see Ann or Inga.
Missing Trays We have two black and white trays missing from the church kitchen, if you have borrowed them could you please return them as soon as possible.
Heather Wood is getting married on February 9th 08 at 1.30 pm at Wakefield Cathedral to George Atkinson. If anyone wishes to attend the service they are very welcome. Email Heather at heatherwood19@yahoo.co.uk.
‘On Christmas Night’ is the Yorkshire Philharmonic Choir’s Carol Concert this year in Wakefield Cathedral on Saturday 22nd
December at 7.30 pm. Tickets are always at a premium for this popular event. Choir members were told on Tuesday that there were no tickets available for them to sell on to friends, but I
understand there are still some available at the Cathedral
Bookshop or the Tourist Information Centre in Wakefield—so, can I encourage you to contact them if you would like to be there (there will be no chance of getting in on the door!) Derek.
Food Cupboard Please remember the food cupboard when you are out shopping, we are now in the process of making up
Christmas parcels for the needy in Normanton.
Bookstall There are Advent calendars and Christmas cards for sale on the bookstall; there are also a number of second hand books for everyone to look and take home.
PCC The minutes from the last meeting are in the pigeon holes.
Précis of PCC Minutes These are on the welcome desk for
everyone to read and take home and also on the website.
Sunday 23rd December. Duty Roster
If you are on duty but cannot make it then you must find a replacement. We have had a number of people recently who have failed to do this and it has caused embarrassing silences in the services, please check your rotas.
